9th U.S.-China Health Summit to Focus on Sustainable Health Care System
Boston, MA — August 5, 2019 — U.S.-China Health Summit Inc., a high-level dialogue and collaboration platform dedicated to ensuring health without borders, will convene its 9th Annual Summit (U.S.) on September 26-27, 2019 at Harvard Medical School Joseph B. Martin Conference Center, Boston, MA. Under the theme of Building A Sustainable Health Care System, the Summit will bring together more than 400 global leaders at the forefront of global health, biomedical research, healthcare policy, and service delivery to connect, communicate, collaborate, and envision a sustainable foundation for affordable, accessible, and high-quality health care.
The day-one “Health Innovation and Investment Forum” will start with remarks by Stephen Kennedy Smith, Board Member and Principal of Joseph P. Kennedy Enterprises. Lincoln Chen, China Medical Board (CMB) President, will address the day-two opening on the over 100-year experience of the CMB, which started in 1914, endowed by John D. Rockefeller as an independent American foundation to advance health in China and Asia. His talk will be followed by Wenkang Zhang, the former Chinese Minister of Health, who is leading a high-level think tank (major members will be speakers of this summit) on designing the future health care system for China in decades to come.
The Vice President of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the President of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) & Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) Chen Wang, President of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Peter L. Slavin, the Vice President of Wuhan University and the Dean of Wuhan Medical School Qizhu Tang are also scheduled to deliver keynote speeches.
“Common challenges like lack of connectivity, transparency and efficiency, unaligned economic incentives, and affordability concerns get in the way of health care sustainability progress in both U.S. and China,” said Jing Ma, MD, Ph.D., President and Secretary-General of U.S.-China Health Summit. “We strongly believe health and health care are basic human rights without boundary. Engaging such multi-stakeholder and open dialog in health and humanity between the two countries will not only remove misunderstandings and facilitate solutions to shared problems but provide mutual benefits to their people.”
