Innovative Technology of Chinese Origin – Clinical Applications and Field Advancement
“Prefecture-level hospitals like ours is a 'sandwiched hospital'——we are always in the dilemma of insufficient talents and funds.” At the "Hospital CEO's Forum" of the 8th U.S. - China Health Summit, Chen Yongjun, president of the Suining Central Hospital, Sichuan, said that the prefecture-level hospitals also need to and have to strengthen discipline construction ——Though as tiny as a grain is its flower

“To overtake around the curve, we adopted China’s original technology and found high-intensity focused ultrasound as the breakthrough.” Chen Yongjun suggested that Suining Central Hospital should introduce the HIFU high-intensity focused ultrasound equipment and technology from Chongqing Medical University. After clinical application and exploration, its experience is incorporated into the guidelines for the use of ultrasound, contributing to the use of HIFU in China and around the world.
“By taking advantage of HIFU technology, we have established a HIFU research team to promote international cooperation. At present, nearly 100 doctors from more than 30 countries and regions around the world have visited and received trainings from our hospital.” Chen Yongjun said that with HIFU as a link, Suining Central Hospital has established an academician workstation, signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, set up a medical data research center and incorporated HIFU into the mega database.
In particular, the hospital’s gynecology and obstetrics have proved through 80 prospective studies that HIFU technology is safe, effective and harmless for the treatment of uterine fibroids. The number of its yearly treatment has remained the world's No.1 for a long time, and its experience is included in the Clinical Protocol of Focused Ultrasound Treatment of Uterine Fibroids.
Chen Yongjun claimed that it had been 8 years since the introduction of HIFU technology, which has promoted the multi-disciplinary cooperation and development of the hospital, improved the hospital's popularity, and helped establish cooperative relationships with many medical institutions at home and abroad. The hospital has developed from a health center to a medical center and has become "the world's largest HIFU Center" and the only international micro-non-invasive technology training center.
