
Yaqing (Tyler) Tang
Director of Operation
Yaqing (Tyler) Tang, MPH currently works as a Project Coordinator of China Program for Health Innovation and Transformation at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute (HPHCI). In this role, he is responsible for managing multiple research projects. His duty includes grant application, preparation of timeline, subcontract materials, budget development, regulation compliance, and HIPAA protections. He also coordinates a series of professional training programs designated for Chinese hospital executives, chief physicians, and specialty experts. Tyler also supports the China Program director to organize monthly seminars featuring top healthcare leaders from both the U.S. and China.
Tyler also serves as the Director of Operation at U.S.-China Health Summit. He is responsible for leading the operation team to support the success of each annual summit, training program, and seminar with 20 to 400 participants. Since joining the organization in 2017, Tyler has recruited and led teams of over 30 members through all stages of event life cycle, from strategic planning, speaker invitation, marketing, supplier sourcing, execution, budgeting to partnership.
With a strong sense of curiosity and willingness to explore different career perspectives, Tyler’s prior experience spans healthcare, technology, and business. He interned for healthcare start-ups including BBCR Consulting and Breegi Scientific, conducted database development and management projects using SQL, and won a few awards in multiple business plan competitions.
Tyler holds a master’s degree in public health from Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) and a bachelor’s degree in industrial systems engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU). He received multiple awards for his academic excellence including merit-based scholarship from BUSPH and a full scholarship from HKPU. Sponsored by HKPU, he also studied as an exchange student at University of Technology, Sydney, Australia for 4 months and participated in a summer program in entrepreneurship at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel for 1 month.
Tyler is a highly organized, responsible and motivated individual who genuinely cares about his teammates and knows how to align the team towards the same objective. He is also a constant learner willing to learn about novel technologies including web development, programming, data analysis and digital health. Tyler understands both the U.S. and China health systems well and has the ambition of helping people adopt healthy lifestyles and empowering their roles in managing their own health through healthcare innovation.
