April. 3, 2019 | 2017 Masters of Social of Social Medicine & Health Management and Public Health Opening Proposal Defense
On April 3, 2019, the Director, Mr. Yuanli Lu presided over the opening proposal defense of the 2017 masters of Social Medicine & Health Management and Public Health (Health Policy Concentration) of School of Public Health of Peking Union Medical College. Dr. Zhongwei Zheng, the research fellow and the Vice President of Peking Union Medical College, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Mingxiao Wang, the President of Beijing Zhongyu Hospital, Dr. Jing Ma, the associate professor of Harvard Medical School, Mr. Xiangyang Tian, the research fellow and the Director of China Health Education Center Office, and Ms. Jing Sun, the associate research fellow of School of Public Health of Peking Union Medical College were all invited to provide guidance at the meeting. Mr. Liu claimed that all experts had raised many challenging questions about the positioning and methods of students’ research topics. These questions were exactly the indispensable conditions for the success of research projects. This opening proposal defense meeting has guiding significance for the design of graduate thesis.
April. 12, 2019 | 2019 Chinese Aging Well Association Membership Representative Conference & Board Meeting
On April 12, 2019, the 2019 Chinese Aging Well Association Membership Representative Conference & Board Meeting was held. Dr. Liu attended the conference and conducted a work report of 2018.
At the conference, Mr. Hesun Geng delivered a duty performance report of 2018 on behalf of the Board of Supervisors. Besides, the Vice President & Secretary General Mr. Hua Yu and the Deputy Secretary General Mr. Shengguo Zhao also conducted duty performance reports. The conference elected additional vice presidents and executive directors, and Mr. Liu announced the results of the election. Mr. Pingjiang Qi was elected as the Executive Vice President and delivered a speech.
The participants also had a warm exchange of interactions. Mr. Feng Liu, the Executive Director of the Research Institute of Social Responsibility and Chinese Culture of Peking University, delivered a speech “Wisdom and Happiness-Oriented Organization and Life”, interpreting life education in a scientific context.
April. 13, 2019 | The Third National Startup Meeting of Diabetes Prevention and Control Policy Research and the Country-Level Eccrinology Discipline Construction Pilot Project
On April 13, 2019, the third national start-up meeting of Diabetes Prevention and Control Policy Research and the County-level Eccrinology Discipline Construction Pilot Project led by Dr. Liu was held in Beijing Guoerzhao Hotel.
This project was commissioned by the Medical Administration and Health Authority of the National Health Commission and organized and operated by the School of Public Health of Peking Union Medical College in conjunction with the Chinese Aging Well Association. Dr. Zongjiu Zhang, the Director of the Medical Administration and Health Authority of the National Health Commission, Dr. Wei Fu, the Director of the Health Development Research Center, and Dr. Ning Zhuang, the Deputy Director of the Department of Structural Reform attended the meeting.
Nearly 600 presidents, directors and head nurses from more than 300 county hospitals across the country participated in the communication as well. Dr. Liu pointed out that the reason why this project had received national attention was its clear goal of "strengthening the grassroots" and the real achievement of "seeing practical results": helping county hospitals without endocrinology departments to establish relevant departments through exchanges and training activities, and helping those that have established departments to continue to improve their capabilities, thus creating grassroots network construction experience involving “improving discipline weakness” for the establishment of China's high-quality and efficient medical service system, and more effectively coping with the severe situation of chronic diseases’ high incidence in China.
April. 13-15, 2019 | 2019 Nanshan Summit and the Forum of China's Strategies in Response to Global Challenge of Aging Population
From April 13 to 15, 2019, the 2019 Nanshan Summit and the Forum of China’s Strategies in Response to Global Challenge of Aging Population opened in Sanya, Hainan Province. The theme of this summit was “Healthy Aging and Sustainable Development”.
Dr. Liu was invited to attend the conference. His keynote speech entitled “Actively responding to Aging: Where is the innovation?”, and hosted a round-table dialogue on “China’s Healthy Development of Active Aging”. Hundreds of domestic and overseas experts gathered at this aging-related event, sharing different countries’ cognitive concepts and practical experience of active aging and healthy aging, including anti-aging methods, pension systems, insurance intervention models, market operation models, etc., engaging in cross-border communication and exploring integrative development.
April. 16, 2019 | Final Report Defense of "Development and Implementation of A Community Collaborative Care Smart System for the Elderly"
On April 16, 2019, Dr. Liu participated in the final report defense of "Development and Implementation of a Community Collaborative Care Smart System for the Elderly", which is a National Natural Science Foundation of China project. This project was completed collaboratively by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, Hefei University of Technology, and Beijing Urban System Engineering Research Center. As the project leader, Dr. Liu and Professor Ning An of Hefei University of Technology jointly reported on the implementation of the project and research findings with a practical and realistic attitude as well as respects towards science, listening humbly to questions from defense experts. Mr. Liu said that he had benefited a lot from discussions with the defense experts and learning the work of researchers from other research groups.
April. 17, 2019 | The Third-Party Evaluation of Healthy City Construction and Expert Review Meeting of Active Health "One Plan and Two Programs"
On April 17, 2019, Dr. Liu led the research team of the School of Public Health, Peking Union Medical College to participate in the Third-party Evaluation of the Healthy City construction in Luzhou and the expert review meeting of active health “One Plan and Two Programs”. This project was commissioned by the Luzhou municipal government. Between 2015 and 2017, the team of the School of Public Health, Peking Union Medical College conducted a third-party evaluation of the progress of Luzhou’s construction of a healthy city. On behalf of the Peking Union Medical College team, Dr. Lili You shared the main findings of the evaluation which includes 20,000 questionnaires. Mr. Liu, on behalf of the School of Public Health, Peking Union Medical College, Dr. Qunhong Shen, on behalf of Health and Development Institute of Tsinghua University, Ms. Jing Ma, on behalf of the Translational Medicine Center of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, and Dr. Li Zhou, on behalf of the Information Center of the Health Commission of Sichuan Province reported on the pilot demonstration project plan that aims to transform the passive treatment-centered health care system into an active health-oriented new health system. The blueprint has been drawn and the construction is about to begin!
April 19. 2019 | China-German-Japan High-end Workshop on Healthy Aging
On April 19, 2019, the first China-German-Japan High-end Workshop on Healthy Aging was held in Beijing, and Mr. Liu was invited to be present. This workshop was
initiated by Mr. Xiaowei Ma, the Director of the National Health Commission, jointly organized by the Ministry of Health of these three countries, and chaired by Mr. Jianjun Wang, a Party member of the National Health Commission. The leaders of the three countries’ Ministry of Health and other industry leaders gathered to conduct extensive exchanges on how to effectively establish a long-term care protection and service system, how to improve the social participation of the elderly and other questions concerning active and healthy aging. Between 2005 and 2017, Japan’s newly added “silver-hair work force” nearly doubled, and this experience has provided valuable referential significance for China
April. 20, 2019 | National Leading Group Secretariat for Deepening Medical Reform
On April 20, 2019, the National Leading Group Secretariat for Deepening Medical Reform held an expert symposium on medical reform to discuss how to make a strategic plan for deepening medical reform in China between 2020-? on the basis of the staged achievements already achieved. Mr. Liu was invited to attend the meeting and actively offered advice and suggestions.
April. 26, 2019 | Proposal Defense Meeting of the 2017 Ph.D. Students of Epudemiology and Health Statistics
On April 26, 2019, the proposal defense meeting of the 2017 Ph.D. Students of Epidemiology and Health Statistics of School of Public Health of Peking Union Medical College was held. Mr. Liu presided over the meeting, Professor Yude Chen of School of Public Health Peking University, Professor Keqin Rao, the Vice President of the Chinese Medical Association, Professor Dongsheng Zhao and the research fellow Mr. Wuchun Cao of Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Professor Zengwu Wang and Professor Wei Li, Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Ms. Li Wang, the research fellow of Institute of Basic Medical Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Professor Baorong Yu, University of International Business and Economics all came to the meeting and provided professional guidance to doctoral research topics, which benefited the PhD students a lot.
April. 27, 2019 | 2019 BOAO CN-Healthcare Summit
On April 27, 2019, the 2019 BOAO CN-Healthcare Summit was grandly opened in Hainan. The theme of this summit was “Deconstructing Healthy Development Power”. Mr. Liu was invited to host the keynote speech of the main forum. Leading experts from China (Academician Jia Fan, Dean of Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital, Mr. Xingpeng Wang, the Director of Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center), France (CEO of AP-HP), and the United States (Director of the Mayo Clinic and University of Pittsburgh Group) provided a feast of rich experience and wisdom on topics of talent echelon construction, clinical research, patient-centered services, group development, etc.
