LIU Wenxian, Deputy Director of Information and Planning, China National Health Commission

"Empowering Healthcare System with Information Technology and Big Data"

As we look into the future, we welcome a new healthcare situation in the 5G era. The expected integrated care system will bring more benefits to the development of medical and healthcare sectors. In the 5G era, medical care will gradually spread from hospitals to individual families. Also, medical information services will be more remote and intelligent on the basis of wireless.

MA Weihang, Deputy Director, Health and Family Planning Commission of Zhejiang Province

"Principles of Building Smart Hospitals"

When can we free our people from queuing for checking out in each and every link? When do they not have to get up in early morning for a check-up and visit the hospital again in a few days for the results? Currently, citizens in Zhejiang Province have benefited from intelligent medical treatment. Referral of patients at community hospitals can be confirmed within half an hour; community hospitals could also ask for advice from higher-level hospitals over intractable diseases online. The convenience at our fingertips is quietly changing the traditional health care system.

XU Yong, Director, Yichang Center for Disease Control and Prevention

"Application and Prospective of Big Data in Managing Health Care System"

We are establishing an integrated intelligent health service system that combines medical records from all medical institutions across the city so as to build up a significant data analytics program in healthcare. “One person, one card” health care system has been set up in Yichang. The medical information in patients' cards will be kept forever, and citizens have access to health services during their lives. A patient's physical examination results from all medical institutions, records of hospitalized and outpatient experiences, physical exam data, EPI data and other health records can be viewed through a personal card. What’s more, authorized doctors have direct access to their patients' medical record information, so patients no longer need to rush here and there for an analysis of their test sheet or X-ray image.

"Using Evidence-based AI to Transform Healthcare"

Artificial Intelligence (AI) does a good job at storing data permanently and identifying its patterns. Accurate and highly qualified data ensure better intelligent services. In 50% of our cases, AI is able to inform those who need further screening for ovarian cancer a few months earlier than some doctors and nurses do. Diseases like bowel cancer and ovarian cancer are difficult to be detected, but AI will never fail to remind people of further screening, and it will keep the records after identification.
